Alright guys, the player names for species names is getting boring, how bout all of you come up names for your species (avoid actual taxonomy as it'd be a new one every turn, just a general name.) Also evolutionary, I suppose you can but it'd take a turn to do so. Also as this is the final round for an event I've decided to be a bit of a gift giver just this round cause next event if its bad, it'll all hit the fan, someone will most likely go extinct cause as well as the end of free food, things get brutal. Prepare yourselves going ahead. Round: 8Event: Volcanic Eruption Last Turn | No More Free FoodevolutionarytardisPhagocytosis: 2+5=7 | Better Than Expected Description: This species evolves the ability to devour cells equally and smaller than it. However, without the needed parts it just causes the cell to self destruct as it gets too full of cells. However this forms an odd trait to the colony, as some cells "Eject" Themselves from the "colony" (I use that in quotes cause it's only a colony because of the common need for geothermal energy.) it attracts the predators which are overwhelmed by over-eating on this species and as such it acts as an unexpected form of defense. Past Adaptations: Vacoules Thermosynthesis Mitochondria Cilia Chloroplasts Conservation Status: NT joshthehawkSignal Agents: 2+2=4 | Worse Than Expected Description: This species has formed signal receptors on its membrane allowing cells to have a crude form of communication. The primary function is to keep the colony together in one group, this is the first multicellular organism on the planet. However like all large evolutionary steps it does not come without its risk. In this case due to working together the ability of Cilia has lost any purpose. And as such they are unable to move efficiently nor feed, currently all food is supplied via rare offshoots that manage to ignore the signals and break away then return with full bellies. Specialization is needed to overcome these obstacles. (Tidbit: Nerves are now your friend :3) Past Adaptations: Binding Proteins Cell Walls Golgi Apparatus Mitochondria Cilia Conservation Status: LC (-) (This will continue to go down until food is sorted out.) moopliSignal Agents: (if you want swarming and dispersal Quorum Sensing would be the better option I think but Signal Agents will work fine instead of Quorum Sensing, If you'd like me to change it let me know.) 4=4 | Worse Than Expected Description: This organism develops Signal Agents as well as receptors on the outside of the membrane, this allows basic "orders" to be given to other members of the species which in this case is for a swarming behavior upon prey to the species and dispersal when another predator threatens a swarm. However these signals aren't very good and as such are not always effective. Past Adaptations: Flagella Phagocytosis Lysosomes Caveolae (-15%) Golgi Apparatus Conservation Status: VU classyamoebaLysosomes: 2+2=4 | Worse Than Expected Description: This species evolves lysosomes which make it much much more capable at digesting other cells it pulls into itself and gains nutrients from them it can now eat the prey it kills via its Metabolic Poison and change them into raw nutrients, however caveolae as well as other things would assist in pulling the corpse into the cell (to sum it up, your species now works as a butcher, it kills others with the poison, then it pulls the body into itself if it can fit, and breaks it down.) Past Adaptations: Mitochondria Binding Proteins Released Poison Poison Agents Metabolic Poison Chloroplasts (20%) Conservation Status: NT taconukeDescription: Past Adaptations: Caveolae Golgi Apparatus Flagella Chloroplasts Conservation Status: EN centarusSignal Agents: 2+2+4=8 | Super Evolution! Description: This cell evolves Signal Agents and receptors that allow for cell-to-cell communication. This combined with binding proteins means this species is now fully multicellular. The struggles of being multicellular have been aided by pre-existing bonuses, the jets that every cell possesses, as a collective, now function better in the water and provide very very slow movement for the colony which is currently a blob floating around between the "bottom" and the "middle" of the ocean. Also however its signal agents have evolved so that it can order some cells to go off as scouts and return food to the colony. Via telling them to leave and telling them to come back. They cannot stray too far however so food intake is still somewhat limited. This species is well fit for multicellularism all it needs now are binding proteins to help push the group together more. Past Adaptations: Cellular Siphon Lysosomes Better Endoplasmic Reticulum Caveolae Mitochondria Flagella Conservation Status: LC Gabriel GGLithiotrophy: 2+2=4 | Worse Than Expected Description: This species evolves a way to gain nutrients from minerals along the bottom of the sea floor while this is a very inefficient way of gaining resources its made worse by the fact they are a slower species due to the binding proteins, however. Thermal Resistance allows them to places where resources are more abundant or plentiful or just generally harder to reach. This ability gives them a slight edge over others. Past Adaptations: Thermal Resistance Cilia Flagella Mitochondria Binding Proteins Conservation Status: VU redwatt50Better Endoplasmic Reticulum: 2+5=7 | Better Than Expected Description: This cell evolves a much better Endoplasmic Reticulum allowing it to preform it at half the energy cost with nearly double the efficiency. This cell now has everything required and can now be considered a "True" or "Full" Predator. Past Adaptations: Shallow Caveolae Lysosomes Phagocytosis Cili (Faster) Mitochondria (-5%) Conversation Status: VU So a quick status update to everyone and where everyone is currently: redwatt, centarus, classyamoeba, and moopli are all predators, some with different methods than others to kill prey. Gabriel is a thing that currently swims along mindlessly on the bottom of the ocean and eats rocks. Taconuke has yet to come out with a niche. Tardis' species are like popcorn thermotrophs. And Josh is now a blank slate of a multicellular organism ready for specialization.

Hm, wath should i evolve? :/ I think mouth-like structure will be good no? Because we are low on food... [Edit: Oh okay, no mouth] OR I think i will evolve something that makes my cells aim to reproduce and eat, because they just float away... OR EVEN I will need to evolve Signal Agents so my colonies will be better, OMG...
Wath is best ;-; +2 evolutionarytardis

Because we are low on food ;-; +2 evolutionarytardis Well you can't really do anything like that yet, you only have binding proteins, if you had signal agents as well you would be multicelluler and as such could evolve a nervous system and develop a very basic mouth/stomach/anus structure that's basically a hole through yourself into which you can eat things, but you have quite a unique niche, your non-predatory, you'll need to come up with some interesting solutions for survival. Moopli, any suggestions?

Wath is best ;-; +2 evolutionarytardis I believe for what you're trying to do Signal Agents would be best, from there you can do SO many complex things, it really is the next step towards evolution. And honestly, the thing ailing you right now is food, so if you become multicellular, you'll be able to spread out and form sheets along the floor of the ocean which will provide more area for you to absorb nutrients via the minerals, however, things get more complex when you go multicellular, you wont be able to really move as well, if at all. And you'll eventually need some sort of digestive system to process the minerals, and a circulatory system to support your "blanket" all those require a nervous system, but by then, most likely, and hopefully, you won't be relying on minerals for food.

Endoparasitism: Break through the plasma membrane (or if phagocytosed, escape from the endosome) into the cytoplasm of encountered foreign cells, meaning my microbes can start predating at a smaller size. Thanks to signal agents, the microbes can avoid intra-species predation! +2 to first person who +2's me GabrielGG Moopli is me. Hi!
